1. TRANSPORTATION: a. Mileage reimbursement will be provided to RSVP volunteers who request reimbursement, as long as funds are available. This benefit is to help volunteers with the cost of transportation to and from their home and volunteer location only. The amount of reimbursement is based on a cost-per-mile rate set by the RSVP Advisory Council and the sponsor, Cumberland County Coordinating Council on Older Adults. Effective 1/1/07, mileage will be reimbursed at $.11 per mile, with a maximum amount not to exceed $20 per month. Volunteers are responsible for documenting their roundtrip miles on their monthly time sheets. b. Car-pool drivers may request reimbursement; however, passengers will not receive reimbursement. c. Volunteers will not be reimbursed for transportation costs that are incurred while performing volunteer assignments. EXCEPTION: RSVP volunteers who deliver Meals to the Homebound may request and receive mileage reimbursement. d. If public transportation is needed, volunteers should notify the RSVP Office, who will coordinate this. 2. EXCESS LIABILITY INSURANCE: a. Supplemental insurance is provided for RSVP volunteers who submit hours to the RSVP Office. The automobile insurance applies only while driving to and from the volunteer's home and volunteer location, and is not meant to replace and/or subsitute a volunteer's personal liability insurance coverage. b. Coverage Includes: Accident Insurance c. In the event of an automobile accident, volunteers must notify the RSVP Office @ (910) 433-1136 in order to complete the appropriate paperwork. The volunteer's personal automobile liability insurance is the primary insurance carrier. This coverage if for out-of-pocket expenses only. d. In the event of an accident at the volunteer location, volunteers must notify the RSVP Office @ (910) 433-1136, in order to complete the appropriate paperwork. The volunteer's personal insurance and Medicare (if enrolled) are the primary insurance carriers. This coverage is for out-of-pocket expenses only. e. Please contact the RSVP Office for additional information regarding this insurance or when filing a claim. 3. UNIFORMS AND/OR SMOCKS: Uniforms and/or smocks may be provided to RSVP volunteers by the volunteer location. The cost for laundering these is not reimbursable. 4. MEALS: Meals may be provided to RSVP volunteers by the volunteer location. 5. RECOGNITION: a. An annual Volunteers' Recognition Ceremony will be provided, honoring RSVP volunteers for their service to the community. b. Orientation, training, and informal recognition will be ongoing.
